Creating Your First Event

A walkthrough of every field on the event form, from the title and dates to the public landing page and button styling.

Creating Your First Event

From your dashboard, click Create Event to open the event form. Here's what each section does.

The basics

  • Event Title — shown internally in your dashboard, and used as the default headline on your public page if you don't set a Display Title.
  • Start / End Date & Time — the end must be after the start.
  • Event Group — every event belongs to a group (a folder for organizing your events). New accounts start with a default General group; you can create more from the group dropdown. See Understanding Event Groups.
  • Location — free text, so this can be a physical address or a Zoom/Meet link.
  • Recurrence — None, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly, for events that repeat.
  • Description — internal notes and context shown on the event page.

Landing Page Content

This is what invitees see when they open your event's public link:

  • Display Title — the big headline on the public page. Leave it blank to reuse the Event Title.
  • Intro / Tagline — a short line shown under the title.

Button Template

Choose the style of the "Add to Calendar" button that appears on your public page and in the embeddable widget. You can pick a system template or one of your own custom templates — see Custom Button & Landing Page Templates. Templates using a "Hover" interaction automatically fall back to click-to-open on mobile, since hovering isn't possible on touch screens.

RSVP & CRM Integrations

Turning on Collect RSVPs & Sync to CRM adds an RSVP form to your public event page and syncs each response to your connected CRM. This requires an active CRM connection first — set one up under Integrations.

SEO & Discoverability

By default, event pages are not indexed by search engines, for privacy. Enable Allow Search Engines to Index if you want a specific event to be discoverable on Google, and optionally override the search/social title and description (available on paid plans).

Landing Page Template

Optionally apply a fully custom full-page design instead of the default Invitly layout (available on paid plans) — see Custom Button & Landing Page Templates.

Saving

Click Create Event. You'll land back on My Events, where you can share the public link, embed the widget, view stats, or edit the event at any time.
